Assumption Church, Atco 1947

-from Building God's Kingdom: A History of the Diocese of Camden, 1987

Assumption began as a mission of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Berlin. The church, still standing, was built in 1909 on the White Horse Pike. Father Peter A. Budniak was named first pastor when the parish was established in 1947. The mission of St. Anthony's, Waterford, was then attached to the new Atco parish.

Assumption school opened in 1955 under the pastorate of Father (later Monsignor) George E. Sharkey, staffed by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

A combination church-hall was dedicated by Bishop Guilfoyle in November 1975 during the pastorate of Monsignor Thomas St. J. Cannon. A new church was dedicated November 9, 1986.

The current pastor is Father Patrick S. Chiarilli
