Formerly a mission of St. Martin de Porres, Hammonton, St. Anthony of Padua became a parish on August 4. 1965, Father Umberto Carta as its first pastor. Masses were celebrated for the new parish community at St. Martin de Porres Church and at Fire House #2, Hammonton.
The first structure built in the new parish complex, located one mile north of the White Horse Pike on Route 206, was a combination church-hall with a rectory attached. It was completed on August 25, 1968.
The pastor of St. Anthony of Padua at the present time is Father Joseph H. Burns.
