New Parish Naming Guidelines
The naming of the new parish is an opportunity for all parishioners to participate in the merger process. It is requested that each parishioner complete the naming ballot and the suggested feast day for the new parish. The general guidelines for the selection process is noted below:
The naming ballot should be placed in the offertory collection at one of the weekend masses beginning May 30 – June 30.
The new parish name should not be any of the existing parish names (i.e. Sacred Heart or Holy Maternity), as the church buildings bearing these names will retain their names as long as they are in use.
The new parish name may be a variation of one of the names currently in use or a name that would provide for the unification of both parishes.
The eight names receiving the most votes will be placed on a subsequent ballot where a second vote, for the top three, will occur at another mass. This will take place during the month of August 1 through September 7th.
The top three names selected at this second vote will be sent to Bishop Galante for his review and final selection.
